Non-DKP Loot Rules (Revised)
The following rules have been designed specifically for raid instances where DKP is not used. Currently, these rules apply to Zul'Gurub∞ and Ruins of Ahn'Qiraj∞. It is recommended that the following rules be observed for all official NitF∞ raids. Raid leaders may amend these rules as they see fit, however they must ensure that all participants are aware of these amendments before the first pull and they take full responsibility for the consequences of their amendments.
Basic Rules
- Roll NEED on all Uncommon (green) and Rare (blue) BoEs except craftable materials that go to the bank -- PASS on Bloodvine.
- PASS on all Epic (purple) BoEs. The master looter will call for rolls from eligible raiders. For the purpose of our raids, BoE epics are no different from BoP epics.
- Bosses will be master-looted. PASS on all BoPs, should the master looter forget. Even if the item is going to go to you, pass on the item first and await instruction before looting. The master looter will call for rolls from eligible raiders.
- Do not loot a boss corpse unless specifically instructed to do so. This prevents gold from being looted before people are ready or causing items to be randomed if the master looter is out of range.
- Try not to loot while in combat, as the popups are distracting and obscure or block some people's action bars.
Rolling
- Eligible raiders are defined as someone who is able to equip (for weapons or armour) or use (in the case of enchant materials, quest items or items requiring a particular level of reputation) an item right away or in the immediate future (within a week), and who could make reasonable use of said item (though, if you cannot use the item immediately, you should consider whether it would be better for someone else). There are no class restrictions, so the responsibility lies with the raider to determine whether a particular item is appropriate for them. If you are uncertain, ask before rolling. Don't make snap decisions -- if you need time to decide, ask for it. People who make a habit of making dubious decisions on loot may find that raid invites are no longer extended to them.
- Primal hakkari idols∞ (the class head/leg enchant item) are not restricted, however, in light of their high demand and limited supply, please ensure that you can immediately use the item and that the item you enchant is one which will you will use regularly and for some time. Don't roll on an idol for a helm you might upgrade next week on an Onyxia raid or for a pair of pants that will only see infrequent usage.
- In the case of the ZG two-piece set items, if a set item drops, priority will be given to anyone who possesses the corresponding piece of the set. If no one possesses the corresponding piece, standard eligibility rules apply.
- There is a limit of one Epic (purple) item per run. If you have received an Epic item, you are ineligible for other epics unless no one else wants it. Primal hakkari items and qiraji hilts do not count as epic items, despite their purple colour.
- You are ineligible for any BoP item if you have called an item. This includes primal hakkari items∞ and qiraji hilts∞. Details below.
Calling
- Calls must be made before the first boss. In the event that people want to call trash drops, this rule may be changed so that calls must be made before the first pull, but given that no one has ever expressed an interest in calling a trash drop, we'll go with the standing tradition of calling before the first boss.
- By calling an item, you are telling the raid, "I want this item and only this item." If you call an item, you become ineligible to roll on any other BoP in the instance, whether your item drops or not. This is true even if no one else wants an item and it will be sharded or left behind. For this reason, you are strongly advised not to call items, especially if there is the possibility that multiple items will drop that you can use.
- By calling an item, you commit to running the entire raid, unless some emergency arises. Calling an item off the first boss and then ditching when it doesn't drop is considered extremely bad form and may lead to you not being invited back.
- If multiple people call an item, the item will be rolled among them.
- Any item in an instance may be called. This includes 100% drop rate items like the Heart of Hakkar∞ or the Head of Ossirian∞, ultra-rare items, like mounts, or even quest items like idols or coins (not sure why you'd do that, but the point is, you can).
- Two-piece ZG sets (rings and weapons) can now be called. Be advised, however, that anyone who can complete a set with a given drop will be given equal precedence. For example, if you call the Major Mojo Infusion∞, and the Seal of Jin∞ drops, but Joe (who hasn't called anything, and already has the Band of Jin∞) will have equal priority -- you'll have to roll off. And if you lose that roll, you're still ineligible for other BoP items.
- If you call a set, and win the first item, you can complete the set, should the second item drop, however, you will have a lower priority than someone who can complete the set who has not called an item.
- Calling disqualifies you from completing a set for free -- if you can complete a set, but you've called an item, and your set piece drops, it goes to someone else, or gets sharded. If you are looking to complete a set, it is strongly recommended that you do not call another item.
- In the event that you call an item that can drop multiple times, your call only applies to the first one you win. If you call a Jasper Idol∞, and three drop, you only get one of those. If you lose a roll on the first Jasper Idol∞, but the second is uncontested (at this point, only you have an outstanding call on a idol∞), you will receive that second item and will be ineligible for the third.
- If a called item drops off of multiple bosses, your call is good until the item drops (for that run) -- it does not apply to a specific boss.
Loot Priority
Under the rules previously stated, the priority on a particular item looks like so:
Example 1:
Non-set epic item X drops. Loot priority for item X is as follows:
1) Anyone who has called X
2) Anyone with no calls and no epics this run
3) Anyone with no calls who has won an epic this run -- eligible only if no one else wants it
X) Anyone who has called an item other than X -- ineligible no matter what.
Example 2:
Non-set rare item Y drops. Loot priority for item X is as follows:
1) Anyone who has called Y
2) Anyone with no calls
X) Anyone who has called an item other than Y -- ineligible no matter what.
Example 3:
Set epic item Z drops. Loot priority for item X is as follows:
1) Anyone who has called Z and anyone who needs Z to complete their set, but has not called an item (but may or may not have won an epic)
2) Anyone with no calls and no epics this run
3) Anyone with no calls who has won an epic this run (but does not have the other piece of the set) -- eligible only if no one else wants it
X) Anyone who has called an item other than Z (even if they have the companion piece to the set) -- ineligible no matter what.
Example 4:
Non-set epic item Q drops. Loot priority for item Q is as follows:
1) Anyone who has called Q and anyone who needs Z to complete their set, but has not called an item
2) Anyone with no calls, but does not have the other piece of the set
X) Anyone who has called an item other than Q (even if they have the companion piece to the set) -- ineligible no matter what.
Example 5:
Set epic item B drops after epic item A of the same set. Player 1 called the set and has already received item A, Players 1 & 2 needs item B to complete the set (and Player 2 has not called an item). Loot priority for item B is as follows:
1) Player 2 (has not called an item and can complete the set)
2) Player 1 (has called the set, but has already received the first piece of the set)
3) Anyone with no calls and no epics this run
4) Anyone with no calls who has won an epic this run (but does not have the other piece of the set) -- eligible only if no one else wants it
X) Anyone who has called an item other than Z (even if they have the companion piece to the set) -- ineligible no matter what.
